Customizing your Email Service Provider for Stand Downs

You can issue a “stand down” request to Checkmate directly from your Email Service Provider. This will prevent Checkmate from targeting specific customers while they are active in your flows and/or email campaigns. Once the request is received, Checkmate will pause targeting that customer for the specified duration.

Customizing your Email Service Provider for Stand Downs

Set-up instructions:

  1. Log in to your email service provider.

  2. Navigate to the section where you manage existing email campaigns. This might be labeled “Campaigns,” “Flows,” or “Journeys.”

  3. Select the flow you want Checkmate to stand down from.

  4. Create a “Send email” event after the first trigger. Common triggers include:

    1.  “Viewed Product”

    2. “Placed order”,

    3. “Opted-in to email”

  5. Set the recipient (To address) of the email to  stand-down@chckmt.app

  6. Use the following format for the email subject line:

    1. For example, if you wanted to stand down Cody @ Checkmate to Quay, it would be quayusa.myshopify.com:cody@joincheckmate.com:24hr

  1. Customize the stand-down duration as needed. Valid examples include

    1. 4hr

    2. 72hr

    3. 2days

    4. 3weeks

Recommendations

We recommend using stand downs sparingly. Checkmate’s ability to retarget high-intent anonymous users relies on the speed of campaign execution. Delays can result in lost revenue opportunities.

Suggestions

  • Maximum 24-72 hour delay of Welcome emails

  • Maximum 48 hours for Cart and Browse Abandonment emails
