What is Checkmate?

Checkmate is a data company that helps brands connect with shoppers more effectively. We use real-time shopping behavior, our “data network”, to target, retarget, and convert high-intent customers.

Checkmate offers three core tools to help you:

    • Problem: Brands collect emails but 95% of traffic is anonymous due to cookie drops, limiting personalization and conversion.

    • Solution: Checkmate enriches your CRM and turbocharges email collection. We provide additional insights - like browsing and buying behavior - so your marketing flows are smarter and more effective.

  • Targeting: 
    • Problem:  Due to IDFA blocking and cookie depreciation, knowing who to target has become increasingly difficult. Most site visitors remain anonymous and traditional channels are costly and saturated. Generic discounts can spread and overall reduce order value.
    • Solution:  Checkmate leverages first party data and provides owned channels to deliver one-off, targeted offers that convert, without relying on broad social ads or universal discount codes.

  • Audiences: 
    • Problem:  Brands want even deeper insights and segmentations.
    • Solution: Checkmate enables gated offers and customized discounts, giving you smarter segmentation, more control over who sees which offers, and the ability to grow opt-in email lists.

What is this data network?

Checkmate collects information through its own mobile application available on Apple’s App Store, a Google Chrome browser extension plugin, and from direct relationships with merchants through pixel tags and custom javascript that synchronizes merchant information with Checkmate’s proprietary user information. We have millions of shoppers opt-in to receive communications and campaigns.

What information does Checkmate collect? 

Checkmate provides a complete description of collected information through its posted privacy policy. In summary, Checkmate collects personal contact information such as names and email addresses, metadata such as IP address and browser or mobile device information, and behavioral information such as the merchant visited and types of pages visited.
